A Little Background

Hey, it's me!
My name is Nancy Armitage, I'm the sole creator behind Sad Radish Pottery. Yes, this is a one woman show and I'm incredibly grateful to be able to pursue my passions!🧡
Nancy grew up in Westport, New York surrounded by forests, ponds and farm life. Nancy has always been attracted to nature and you could find her sitting in the gardens drawing and painting most days in her youth.
In 2011 she attended SUNY Plattsburgh to pursue her arts education receiving a BFA in Ceramics & Printmaking in 2015. It was only natural that introduction to clay would be where her heart would go. Being able to express colors, textures and ideas seemed so natural in this medium and quickly it became her passion.
Since graduation, Nancy has participated in many local galleries, shows, shops, and events throughout Essex and Clinton County. She also was the Clay Studio Manager and head Clay Instructor at The Strand Center for the Arts for 6 years ending in late 2022. From there she launched herself as a fulltime potter.
Nancy also provides local businesses with branded merch including Chapter One Coffee and Tea, Camp Dudley, Twinstate Technologies, Essex Eats, and The 26 Foundation.
In 2021 Nancy partnered with 2 local women creatives to create a storefront in downtown Plattsburgh. Workbench Collective was born in December of 2021 featuring artwork and artisan goods from 30+ individuals including her own pottery.
